FAIROmics Mid-term Check Meeting & Summer school n°1

On 27th May 2025, the FAIROmics consortium held its Mid-Term Check Meeting with the Research Executive Agency, embodied by our Project Officer, in Paris. 

The meeting brought together the Project Officer, the project coordinator, representatives from each beneficiary and associated partner, as well as (almost) all the doctoral candidates to review the current implementation of the project.

It was also a great opportunity for the fellows to engage directly with the REA Project Officer, ask questions and gain insights into the expectations and support available within the MSCA framework. The meeting further encouraged informal exchanges among the different teams, strengthening the sense of community and collaboration across the network.

Following the mid-term check, from 2nd to 13th June 2025, the FAIROmics DCs took part in their second training event: the FAIROmics Summer school n°1, held in Paris and hosted by INRAE. This two-week programme offered a rich and interdisciplinary learning experience, combining theoretical courses with hands-on sessions.

The fellows explored a wide range of topics including biology and ecology, practical work on plant-based food, omics technologies, and statistical methods for omics data. They also received training on the legal aspects of open science, the FAIR principles in bioinformatics, and an introduction to Life-Cycle Assessment.

Additional sessions focused on consumer science—featuring practical exercises on sensory perception—as well as an introduction to starters and fermentation at the Danone R&D site.  The school concluded with a forward-looking module on Natural Language Processing and Knowledge Graphs.

This training event was also a great opportunity for the fellows to strengthen their bonds, share their research progress, and continue building interdisciplinary links within the FAIROmics consortium.
