Secondments

Secondments

For MSCA-DN, secondments are periods of research training with another beneficiary and/or a partner organisation (from the Consortium) in order to further enrich the training experience of the researchers. When on secondment, the DN fellow continues to be paid by the recruiting beneficiary. The country correction coefficient used to calculate the living allowance does not change.

The costs of participation in the secondment cannot be paid by the fellow; the additional costs of the fellow, such as short-term accommodation costs and travel costs, are covered by the category "Research, Training and Networking" costs. In the case of a long-term secondment (i.e. more than 6 continuous months), the fellow should not pay double rents and could use the mobility allowance to pay it.

In the specific case of a Joint Doctorate Network, the recruited researchers will need to spend at least the minimum period of time required to be eligible to enrol in a doctoral degree and defend their thesis at the corresponding academic participating organizations. This time varies according to the institution and country in question.
