Fellow Presentation :

Hi, I'm Francisca Pizarro Galleguillos, a PhD student at the BioTeC+ Lab at KU Leuven. I hold a degree in Biotechnology Engineering from the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Chile, where I also completed my Master's in Engineering Sciences, specialising in Chemical Engineering, in 2024. During my Master's program, I had the opportunity to conduct my thesis at the Centre for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (CeBiB).

My PhD research focuses on integrating multi-scale models into a control framework, specifically addressing the inherent biological uncertainty in these systems. To achieve this, I am exploring various control strategies, uncertainty quantification techniques, and model reduction methods. The ultimate goal is to develop robust and efficient control strategies for managing complex biological systems, often characterised by variability.

One of the most compelling aspects of the project is the potential to collaborate with other researchers and industry partners within the network. Beyond the technical aspects, the potential impact of this research is what really motivates me since it has the potential to help create more resilient and sustainable food systems.
